The two Abbeyfield Society houses in Chichester, one in Westgate and the other in Market Avenue, offer high-standard accommodation and a safe, secure and homely environment for 17 active elderly residents. Each house has a paid resident housekeeper and a network of local volunteers. All residents have their own centrally heated, ensuite rooms with emergency call system.  Each room is freshly decorated for new residents, and they are encouraged to bring their own furniture to create a cosy, familiar feel.

Breakfast is prepared individually, but lunch and supper are freshly-prepared, cooked and served by the housekeeper and eaten together in the
dining room. At other times each resident leads as independent a life as he or she wishes, making use of the companionship afforded by the comfortable lounge and attractive gardens or enjoying the privacy of their own room.

The Abbeyfield way of life provides a balance of privacy, support and security that is ideal for older people who no longer feel able to cope or who do not wish to live alone at home. Our residents are active and independent-minded people who have mostly lived locally, or have relatives or friends here, and the move to Abbeyfield provides them with the security of living in a small community, free from the worries of maintaining a house and garden, paying bills and dealing with loneliness.
